Parque natural de las Hoces del Río Riaza

Está situado en el noreste de la provincia de Segovia, a poco más de 45 minutos desde Ayllón. Se trata de un espacio en torno a las hoces del río Riaza, de gran valor geomorfológico, botánico y, sobre todo, con gran variedad y cantidad de aves rupículas y rapaces. Su formación se debe al encajonamiento del río Riaza por disolución y erosión de la roca caliza, pero también existe otra zona de llanura aluvial, donde se han depositado los sedimentos arrastrados por el río.

Hayedo de Tejera Negra

A 46 km. se encuentra éste hayedo situado en Cantalojas, en el rincón noroccidental de la provincia de Guadalajara. Forma parte del macizo de Ayllón, en el extremo oriental del Sistema Central. Es uno de los hayedos más meridionales de Europa. El principal foco de interés del parque se encuentra en la masa forestal de hayas, con una extensión cercana a las 400 hectáreas.

A 57km drive from Ayllón. This is like a small grand canyon of the river Duero which has been carved out of an area between Sepulveda and Burgomillodo in the northeasterly part of the province of Segovia. There is a huge colony of vultures which have established themselves in the area. It is considered to be the largest in Europe in both size and level of reproduction. This is one of the parks main attractions.

The Canyon of the river Lobos

You can find the canyon which is protected by Castilla y Leon about 50 km away. It is an open space with a great variety of trees most of which is in Soria.

Hayedo of Montejo

This forest of beech trees covers 250 hectares and is situated on the slopes of the Sierra de Ayllon

Navafría waterfall

This is a little more than 80 km from Ayllon but worth a visit. The path starts in the park El Chorro which has a restaurant with picnic tables and parking.
